Thanks to these production line upgrades, DG3 recently printed 100,000 postcards for a national telecommunications company in less than three hours, including printing, cutting and coating, compared to approximately 22 hours with the old press, Babat said.
HP Brilliant Ink opens up new possibilities for high-volume production of high-quality direct mail, delivering bold reds and dazzling blues with brilliant output. The new CMYK ink has been specially developed to print in high quality on coated and uncoated offset media.
“It’s a really big deal. So I can say that the T250HD will absolutely improve our ability to get into higher volume direct mail programs that require high quality, speed and flexibility to run on coated media. with the added UV coating to protect the coins through the mail,” says Babat.
Brilliant Ink will also allow DG3 to meet standards for children’s books, environmental safety and recyclability, Babat noted.
DG3 invested in the first PageWide T230 in 2013 and also operates an HP Indigo 12000 digital press which also supplies short run packaging. Pat Caragliano, executive vice president of operations, said the ability to upgrade the HP PageWide T230 onsite with minimal disruption to print operations was a huge benefit to DG3 operations.
