The Genesee Community College Digital Art Program is proud to share this year’s student exhibit with the wider community at the Roz Steiner Art Gallery on the Batavia campus. The exhibition, entirely prepared by GCC students, is called Illusion and will be exhibited from From April 21 to May 12, 2022.

This exhibition will feature digital prints on paper and fabric, projections and media displays created by digital art students. An exhibition-competition artwork is selected through a competitive process. Images and information for the artwork are submitted and will be selected by a jury. Mary Jo Whitman, Director of Education for the Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council (GO ART!), served as a juror for the 2022 Digital Art Student Exhibit. It is a great honor for the students to have their work featured. chosen for display and awards will be presented.

Whitman holds an M.A. in Critical Museum Studies from the University at Buffalo, a B.A. in Sculpture with a minor in Art History from SUNY Brockport, and is a GCC Alumnus with an AAS in Fine Arts. arts. “I am delighted and honored to be part of the jury for the 2022 digital art student exhibition.” Whitman said, “Over the past few years I have witnessed so much talent coming from GCC students and this year was no exception. The photography students should be very proud of themselves for their outstanding work this year.”

The entire community is invited to attend the opening reception in the gallery lobby on Thursday April 21, 2022, of 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. The public is also invited to attend an awards ceremony that evening, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served at both receptions.
