The Jackson County Tourism Development Authority (JCTDA) has hired Jon Moore as its new Social Media and Digital Content Specialist.

As the third JCTDA staff member, Moore’s primary role will be social media content, including securing photography, videography and working with local businesses to tell the Jackson County story. Moore will also explore new social media platforms such as Instagram Reels, Guides and Stories.

“We are proud to grow our team to have an economic impact on our community,” said JCTDA Director Nick Breedlove. “With all the work we do, our community, and the impact of visits on our small businesses, our accommodations and restaurants are front and center as we continue to recover from the pandemic.”

Moore is an experienced photographer and videographer specializing in content and digital marketing. He has been visiting the area for a long time and has lived in western North Carolina for two years. Moore holds a master’s degree in public health (MPH) with a focus on health policy from George Washington University. Additionally, he holds a certificate in Digital Media Marketing from Duke University.

“We are very pleased to welcome a new member to our team,” said Director of Sales and Marketing Caleb Sullivan. “With social media being the main source of inspiration for travel, we are eager to improve our content and reach the right visitor with the right message.”

“I am thrilled at the opportunity to join the Jackson County TDA,” Moore said. “Many of my childhood memories were created here in Jackson County. From fly fishing and kayaking on the Tuckasegee to hiking trails, this county has held a special place in my heart for as long as I remember. Now, as a creative, I’m excited to lend my skills to the team to help promote Jackson County as the truly remarkable tourist destination that it is. His first day with the JCTDA was the the 21st of February.

The Jackson County TDA is the county’s destination marketing, promotion and management organization. Founded in 2013, the Jackson County TDA’s primary goal is to inspire visits to the area, promote local offerings, and in turn support the growth of the local economy.
