Manhattan College’s Digital Media Art program will become a Digital Media Art major starting in spring 2021.
The Digital Media Art minor consists of four courses: Digital Drawing, Digital Photography, Digital Video, and Graphic Design. To complete the major, four additional areas are added: Web Design, Game Design, Animation, and Immersive Media (VR / AR / MxR).
“We are creating the Digital Media Art Major to develop and expand the Department’s existing Art History major, meet the overwhelming demand from students for additional digital art programming, and capitalize on the wealth of related resources in New York City.” Said Daniel Savoy, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Art History and Digital Media Art.
One of the main objectives of the new major is to enable students to develop a critical awareness of the history, theory and practice of digital media art as an agent of social change, which Aligns it with the College’s mission of Person-Centered Learning and Civics. commitment.

The faculty recently established an exclusive internship collaboration with Ogilvy, the New York-based global advertising agency, whose management is excited to welcome Manhattan College students from fall 2021. Additionally, recent minors in digital media art have secured graphic design positions in exceptional institutions, notably the Guggenheim Museum and Chobani yogurt.
