Red Dot Digital Media, an integrator specializing in the digital signage industry, helped update the audio/video infrastructure at Turtle Bay Resort, a luxury property on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, according to a company press release.

The project was part of a 2021 renovation that reinvented the way guests experience points of interest and activities in and around the resort.

A primary goal of Turtle Bay was to highlight resort activities to guests as they enter the property, as well as provide a wayfinding solution to familiarize visitors with the resort. Spinitar commissioned Red Dot Digital Media to design a pair of interactive wayfinding screens located in the center of the resort’s main lobby. Red Dot has developed a multi-level interactive experience that invites guests to interact with the screens to learn more about the property and plan activities during their stay.

“It was important to Turtle Bay that the interactive touchscreens project a sleek and striking look consistent with the resort’s high-end guest experience,” Justin Rogina, account manager at Spinitar, said in the release. “Red Dot delivered on this front, creating an interactive experience that is as informative as it is beautiful. The displays have become a centerpiece of the Turtle Bay experience, helping guests discover all of the wonderful opportunities that await them at the resort.”

Vertically oriented screens present video content of local landscapes and nearby activities. Guests can pause the loop by selecting from a trio of interactive on-screen touch buttons to display a resort map, an all-island map, and daily weather and surf reports.

The displays also include eight activity “bubbles” that float across the screen, with each circular graph corresponding to a different island activity. When a guest taps on an activity they’re interested in, they’re taken to an informational screen with images, text, and video content that introduces them to the activity they selected. The customer also has the option of scanning a QR code to view additional information and book activities on their phone.

“Spinitar was a great partner to work with on this project,” Darryl Kuder, president of Red Dot Digital Media, said in the release. “They’ve done a fantastic job of managing the environmental challenges presented by Turtle Bay’s coastal location. The end result is incredible – a robust AV network that will be the centerpiece of the resort for years to come.”

Founded in 2007, Red Dot Digital Media is headquartered in Carlsbad, California.
