Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) Australia has announced a new collaboration with the online visual communications platform Canva, providing tailored training and scholarships to 250 Pacific companies with access to the Canva Pro platform.

The PTI Australia X Canva collaboration is the first of its kind in the Pacific, connecting the simplicity of Canva’s design platform to businesses in the Pacific region through the PTI Australia network.

Cath Cooksley-Little, Managing Director of Marketing, Communications and Tourism at PTI Australia, said the collaboration is capacity building with continued access to world-class tools.

“Over the past year, we have seen a rapid acceleration in digital commerce and promotion in Pacific businesses. As an agency of the Pacific Islands Forum, we exist to support and develop businesses in the Pacific. Our Pacific Business Monitor, which tracks the impact of COVID-19 in 16 Pacific countries, has highlighted the growing digital gap between those who have and do not have access to essential skills and resources, especially in digital design and marketing.

“Unlike other design options, Canva offers a simple, cost-effective solution for empowering Pacific businesses to access traditional design expertise. I’m really excited about the impact our partnership with Canva will have, enabling small and medium businesses to compete more effectively on the international stage against international brands.

For Canva, the opportunity to partner with an organization with a similar mission to create positive outcomes for the people of the Pacific was significant.
